The Effects of Laughter on our Body and Why We Crave It.

Can we brainwash ourselves?
Ever wonder why you laugh when you're being tickled? Its not even really funny? Its a way for your body to calm itself, our body sees someone tickling us as an attack we can't get out of. So we laugh to calm ourselves. Most psychologists believe that laughter is a subconscious way to redirect our brains and body from being sad. They also state that being able to laugh at traumatic events in our own lives doesn't cause us to ignore them, but instead seems to prepare us to endure them. So, nervous laughter, at the time may seem inappropriate, is actually our bodies way of making us feel less sad. Nervous laughter, as stated, helps us better prepare for future traumatic situations.
The video in the right hand corner shows another way of looking at why we laugh at the most inappropriate times.
" We're signaling ourselves that whatever horrible thing we've just encountered isn't really as horrible as it appears, something we often desperately want to believe."
